Emily Harrison - Biography
Emily Harrison received her veterinary degree from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 after receiving her undergraduate degree in biology from Brown University. In addition to her classic Western veterinary training, Dr. Harrison has extensive training in Chinese medicine and herbology for both horses and small animals. She is a certified veterinary acupuncturist (CVA) with advanced training in small animal acupuncture.
Dr. Harrison’s professional interests are varied although all revolve around seeing your animal in its natural environment. With large animals (including horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, llamas, and alpacas), Dr. Harrison takes an integrative approach, using both Western and Chinese therapies together, when appropriate. Dr. Harrison’s work with small animals (dogs and cats) is exclusively limited to Chinese medicine and herbal therapy although she can happily recommend an excellent mobile vet in your area.
When not working on your animal, Dr. Harrison enjoys hiking and cross-country skiing with Hayden, her too-smart-for-his-own-good Australian Shepherd, and Rosa, a lovable souvenir from a volunteer veterinary trip to the Dominican Republic. Hayden is Dr. Harrison’s self-appointed “truck manager” and takes his job very seriously. Rosa is the back seat driver and doesn’t take anything seriously. Dr. Harrison is also an avid musician who plays the English horn and oboe with the Westchester Symphonic Winds and the New York Wind Symphony.
